"A few thoughts on Dance" by Dee Winterton

Please read these thoughts by Dee Winterton. Pick your favorite of the three and write a paragraph on your interpretation.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To dance is to appreciate and to celebrate one of the most basic and perhaps most personal gifts of God to man --- the physical body.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In its most basic form, dance is simply the sensation of motion -- a personal moment when the spirit becomes one with the physical in an experience of the joy and an appreciation of the wonder of physical movement.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whole societies can be understood by their dance forms, or in rare cases, by their lack of dance.

  1. Dance has always been a form of praise for me. I completely agree with the first quote. Being able to step into a studio feels like a spiritual space where I can express my testimony through movement. Christ has taught us to pray always, and through dance, I feel like I can fulfill that commandment.

  2. I also agree with the third quote. A society is sometimes defined by the way they dance. But if they don't have a form of dance that represents who and what they believe in, I still think we can understand them. As a dancer probably not as well, but still get a sense of who they are.
